One of my batch mates asked me to record a 30 second video for the Teacher's day celebration back in Malaysia. And we were to take the video with a scenery of where we are currently studying.
So, London Eye, Westminster Abbey, the Big Ben, or Buckingham Palace? Perhaps Tower Bridge? Or Oxford Street?
The fact that I was here in London for my studies made me think back of when I was here for my parent's studies. Beautiful beautiful memories that I wish I could relive again.
Life was hard for my parents, we lived very humbly with my father working as well as pursuing his Masters in order to provide for us. But there was never a time when my parents did not try their best to fulfil my needs as well as my two siblings. Only Allah can replace their hard efforts and sacrifices.
The thought of my childhood in the UK brought me back to one catalogue store:

Argos
I remember walking down the dusty streets of Holloway with Ayah and stopping by Argos each time. Even when it was dark and cold during winter, I would always ask Ayah to halt, and wait for me while I gaze into the shop's windows, even when it's already closed. Just like this:

Nose pressed, eyes focused on one thing. A barbie doll. Correction: THE Barbie doll. The stare could last for 10-15 minutes. Her name was Rollerblade Barbie and this particular barbie had rollerblades on. Haha. Boring? Read on.
Barbies's skates let out SPARKS OF FIRE! Well, not exactly fire, fire but they let out a considerable amount of spark (like the sparks you get when you use a lighter to light up those ciggies), enough to burn a whole petrol station down (if ever anyone brings rollerblade barbie to a petrol station).
Oh, here she is!

Skates flicker and 'flash'!
So after noticing how I stared through the Argos shop window for minutes nearly EVERY DAY (I never knew he noticed coz I thought he was busy looking at the vacuum cleaners on display), my Ayah finally got the hint and bought me this BRAND NEW barbie. A brand new Barbie was such a big thing to me back then coz my parents had a tight budget and usually we bought toys (barbies!) from the local car boot sale. Those second hand barbies always had crumpled and lion-mane-like hair and had no clothes on :O
So yeah, I WAS OVERJOYED when I got this new one and kept on playing with the blades every single day wishing I had some fiery rollerblades as well. Right now, I kinda miss her, but I bet she's in one of the toy boxes in the spare room back at home coz my younger siblings just play with the PS2 *sigh*
So thats the story of my 1st new Barbie. Magical *sighhhh*
Oh and to wrap this post up, here's the video I managed to make for the Teacher's Day Celebration. Zoom zoom!
Haha blooper.
Heres the real thing
Till next time!
